The Apartment

Elle Decor Italia x Airbnb Plus

— 2018

Milan. A residence in a 19th century building in the heart of the city has turned into The Apartment, with restyling by DWA Design Studio and Elle Decor for Airbnb Plus, the ultimate frontier in hospitality.

The Apartment has come to life as tailor-made project created from a collaboration between the magazine and the well-known accommodation website in occasion of the Italian launch of Airbnb Plus. The initiative presented from 30/11 to 3/12 offered our own interpretation of the Airbnb premium category that covers homes of great character, generated from the collaboration with Elle Décor Italia, which always promotes and supports the value of interior design. As part of the project, a series of events were organized for the presentation of the Apartment, involving personalities from the world of design, architecture, new technology and entertainment.

As result of the restyling of the historical house, The Apartment is an opportunity to reflect on the experience of the traveler who chooses to stay in a private apartment which is mirror of a lifestyle.

Thus, going through the different rooms (living room, studio, kitchen, bathroom, bedroom and terrace) is a discovery path on the traces of the Milanese contemporary house and who lives it every day, choosing colours, furnitures, objects, every detail that make it special and unique.

As in the stories usually told by the magazine, where interiors are the reflection of the personality of their owners, here the intuition has been completing and detailing the interior set up with details and memories coming from the background and the private houses of the designers: self-portraits outlined by peculiar and “original” objects which underlines as “every home is a storytelling, even if unconsciously”.

In the centre of the living room, a large and deconstructed sofa welcomes the hosts to sit and socialize since the very beginning of their stay thanks to the its flexibility of configuration. Accordingly, flexible has also been the choice of the four small tables instead of a large one in the dining room, so that guests can fluidly and informally aggregate and appropriate of the space. Finally, the bedroom opens the doors to the traveler revealing its originality in every little detail, from the research of unconventional furnitures to the selection of the personal objects of the designers: everything contributes to the formation of a comfortable and inclusive as well as unique and unforgettable experience for the guest.
