Temporary installation in collaboration with Lambert & Fils

After the 2019 edition of the Fuorisalone, DWA Design Studio and Lambert&Fils renew the experience of the temporary concept bar Caffè Populaire by reinforcing their collaboration.
This year setting is an unusual structure reminiscent of a temple surrounded by a wild garden, discovered by Alcova inside the former Ospedale Militare di Baggio. The complex dates back to the early 1930s, and consists of a series of pavilions immersed in a nature that is reappropriating architecture abandoned by man, suggesting the way for a reflection between design and nature.
The project, in which nature frames moments of conviviality, could not have been developed in a better place, where plants grow between the cracks of buildings and embrace walls and floors.
The contact between man and his environment is the focal point around which the design idea was developed, seeking that subtle balance between the artificial and the natural.
The garden comes alive with tables lit by the colours of food, wild flowers and candlelight, with the murmur of chatter to act as a harmonious background noise.
Inside the temple rooms, natural elements dialogue with the simple yet sculptural lamps by Lambert&Fils: extruded tubes that transform into a fountain with water emerging from a flowering table and flowing into a large basin covered with the flowered wallpaper by Superflower.
The sound of the water, a life-giving symbol of ideas and creativity, becomes improvised music that accompanies the visitor and offers the lamps their own reflection.
Under the big chandelier a blooming table, a large clod of earth and plants transferred from outside to inside, creates the opportunity for a moment of meeting and socialising. A fertile breeding ground for new thoughts and ideas.
Thanks to the wallpapers and fabrics by Superflower Studio, nature is told through its abstraction and becomes the protagonist together with the lamps by Lambert&Fils in the more intimate and immersive room dedicated to private moments.
The material made from resin waste by the company Gees Recycling brings into the installation the important theme of sustainability and design and circular economy.
Dopo l’edizione 2019 del Fuorisalone, DWA Design Studio e Lambert&Fils rinnovano l’esperienza del concept bar temporaneo Caffè Populaire consolidando la collaborazione tra loro. Quest’anno a far da cornice è un’inusuale struttura che ricorda un tempio circondato da un giardino spontaneo, messa a disposizione da Alcova all’interno dell’ex Ospedale Militare di Baggio.
Il complesso risale ai primi anni Trenta, ed è composto da una serie di padiglioni immersi in una natura che si sta riappropriando delle architetture abbandonate dall’uomo suggerendo la strada per una riflessione tra design e natura.
Il nuovo progetto, in cui la natura incornicia momenti di convivialità, non poteva svilupparsi in un luogo migliore, dove le piante si fanno spazio tra le crepe degli edifici e abbracciano muri e pavimenti. È proprio il contatto tra l’uomo e l’ambiente che lo circonda il punto focale attorno al quale si è sviluppata tutta l’idea, ricercando quel sottile equilibrio tra l’artificiale e il naturale.
Il giardino si anima di tavoli accesi dai colori del cibo, dei fiori spontanei e delle luci delle candele, con il brusio delle chiacchiere a fare da armonico rumore di fondo.
All’interno delle stanze del tempio elementi naturali dialogano con le lampade semplici ma scenografiche di Lambert&Fils: tubi estrusi che si trasformano in una fontana dalla quale l’acqua zampilla all’interno di una grande vasca tappezzata di fiori.
I gorgoglii dell’acqua, simbolo generatore di vita, di idee e di creatività, diventano musica improvvisata che accompagna il visitatore e offre alle lampade il proprio riflesso. Sotto al grande lampadario un tavolo fiorito, una grande zolla di terra e piante travasata dall’esterno all’interno, offre l’occasione per un momento di incontro e socializzazione. Un terreno fertile per far nascere nuovi pensieri e idee.
Le carte da parati e i tessuti di Superflower Studio raccontano la natura tramite la sua astrazione, diventando protagonista insieme alle lampade di Lambert&Fils nella stanza più raccolta ed immersiva dedicata ai momenti privati.
Il materiale ricavato dagli scarti della vetroresina dell’azienda Gees Recycling porta all’interno dell’allestimento l’importante tema della sostenibilità a servizio del design. Un materiale innovativo nato dagli scarti che riprende vita sotto una nuova forma.
